A small studio note about what we notice when the work takes us out into the world.

FIELD NOTE / 01

Observations from a day away from the desk.

The details are the work.

When visiting client offices, we make room for detours. The places people return to, the sign painter still working on the block, the coffee shop where the regulars know everyone’s name — these details give a project its local grain.

A field note is not a case study. It is a record of the texture around the work: the conversations, the light, and the everyday landmarks that keep an idea grounded.

A useful way to pay attention

The best starting points rarely announce themselves. They wait in the ordinary places, and get stronger when someone is willing to look twice.
